When does time out become the time of your life?

Jodie Jackson is all at sea, in every sense。 On a ferry bound for the Isle of Wight, she's leaving her London life, her career, and her husband behind。 She'd like a chance to turn back the clocks, but she'll settle for some peace and quiet on her brother Bill's beautifully renovated houseboat, Sunny Days

But from the moment Jodie steps aboard her new home, it's clear she'll struggle to keep herself to herself。 If it isn't Marilyn, who cleans for Bill and is under strict instructions to look after Jodie, then it's Ned, the noisy sculptor on the next-door houseboat。 Ned's wood carving is hard on the ears, but it's made up for by the fact that he's rather easy on the eyes。

Bustled out of the boat by Marilyn and encouraged to explore with Ned, Jodie soon delights in her newfound freedom。 But out of mind isn't out of sight, and when her old life comes knocking Jodie is forced to face reality。 Will she answer the call or choose a life filled with Sunny Days and Sea Breezes?

They were clever written and all had unique personalities and back stories。 The pace flowed beautifully and you’re immediately drawn in。 I couldn’t put it down! I do wish there were more trigger warnings for the reader as there is a lot of trauma explored but ultimately Carole handles it sensitively and you find your self rooting for the characters。It definitely made me want to go to the beach and get some fish and chips。 Would absolutely recommend if you’re looking for an emotional yet heartwarming story with some hilarious moments。 。。。more

Another favorite of mine, @matthews。carole doesn't disappoint with this easy breezy novel。 I love how she is able to transport you to another time and place, to a story that though feels real。。。it's always filled with hope and a touch of romance。 Her stories keep you grounded but make you fly at the same time, reminding you of the important things in life whilst allowing your imagination to fly。Jodie is leaving London behind, towards the Isle of Wight。 Escaping her life, her husband and her brok Another favorite of mine, @matthews。carole doesn't disappoint with this easy breezy novel。 I love how she is able to transport you to another time and place, to a story that though feels real。。。it's always filled with hope and a touch of romance。 Her stories keep you grounded but make you fly at the same time, reminding you of the important things in life whilst allowing your imagination to fly。Jodie is leaving London behind, towards the Isle of Wight。 Escaping her life, her husband and her broken heart, she is set to spend time alone to put herself together, by spending as long as needed on her brother's refurbished boat, "Sunny Days"。 Easier said than done, when Marylin shows up with food and cleaning intentions, and a dose of cheer and vitality。 Irritated as first, she slowly lets herself go, exploring the vicinity, meeting new people。。。especially Ned, her next-boat neighbor。 While at her first ever festival, her and Ned get closer, and it just feels right and not a casual fling at all。 But upon their return to the boat, the sudden appearance of her ex husband Chris quickly breaks the spell。 And Ned walks away feeling cheated and heartbroken。 With no other choice than returning to her normal life, Jodie vows to save her marriage and returns to London。 Work is her only respite, and while her creativity seems to be back to where it's supposed to be, her marriage sinks and breaks when her doubts about her husband come true: he was cheating on her with her best friend。 She immediately returns to the boat, where she decides to stay for good, working remotely and with a sole objective in mind: find Ned, explain her story, and hopefully win him back。 。。。more

An amazing summer read that brightened up my days。I couldn’t put this book down and the short chapters made it even harder to put down as I found myself getting to the end of the chapter and thinking ‘ooo just one more。’Initially the character Marilyn irritated me but then she grew on me。 She actually reminded me very much of my late mum。 Like Marilyn, my mum loved to clean, feed people up and loved leopard print。 So I imagined Marilyn as my mum, which made me feel comforted。 The setting of the An amazing summer read that brightened up my days。I couldn’t put this book down and the short chapters made it even harder to put down as I found myself getting to the end of the chapter and thinking ‘ooo just one more。’Initially the character Marilyn irritated me but then she grew on me。 She actually reminded me very much of my late mum。 Like Marilyn, my mum loved to clean, feed people up and loved leopard print。 So I imagined Marilyn as my mum, which made me feel comforted。 The setting of the Isle Of Wight was a perfect escape island, it’s somewhere I would love to visit。 I’d love to have a coffee at Ida’s with Jodie and Ned。I’m really hoping that there will be a sequel to this story as I believe that Jodie and Ned have so much more to give。 。。。more

I’ve read all Carole’s other books except the latest Christmas one “Christmas For Beginners” which is next on my list。 Most of her books I have thoroughly enjoyed, this one being no exception。 I loved it。 A great Sumer read to curl up and enjoy, which takes you on different journeys of love, loss, grief, friendships and new experiences。 Jodie Jackson aged 42 needs a break。 Suspecting her husband Chris of having an affair and a recent loss has left her feeling lost and she needs to escape the rat I’ve read all Carole’s other books except the latest Christmas one “Christmas For Beginners” which is next on my list。 Most of her books I have thoroughly enjoyed, this one being no exception。 I loved it。 A great Sumer read to curl up and enjoy, which takes you on different journeys of love, loss, grief, friendships and new experiences。 Jodie Jackson aged 42 needs a break。 Suspecting her husband Chris of having an affair and a recent loss has left her feeling lost and she needs to escape the rat race of life and find some peace to heal herself。 She escapes to her beloved brother Bill’s houseboat in the Isle of Wight called Sunny Days。 Bills cleaner Marilyn gets Jodie to open up, despite having a loss of her own, and helps Jodie to heal。 Marilyn’s flamboyant dress sense and loud personality makes Jodie cringe when they first meet, but they end up as good friends。 Jodies next door neighbour on the Houseboat called Summer Breezes Ned Haddon, the local sculptor and band musician helps draw Jodie out of her shell。 She meets Ida the local cafe owner and George the living statue turned writer。 She has a great time away from reality and trying things she’s never done before。 Then her old life catches up with her and she must go back to reality。 But not all is as it seems and more twists and turns appear。 The writing style and descriptions are beautiful and you can just imagine yourself there。 Having noisy neighbours oh how I escaped into this book, if only。 It’s well worth a read。 A great story 。。。more

Jodie escapes from her disintegrating marriage to a houseboat far from her old life in London, but when her husband comes to find her, she has some tough choices to make。I thought the pacing was odd - slow at first, but wrapped up quickly at the end。 I don’t think the insta-friendship with Skye was very realistic。 And is it just me, or was there a continuity error? I think Jodie, in her thoughts, tells us something that she, plot-wise, doesn’t find out until much later。 Something kinda’ major。。 Jodie escapes from her disintegrating marriage to a houseboat far from her old life in London, but when her husband comes to find her, she has some tough choices to make。I thought the pacing was odd - slow at first, but wrapped up quickly at the end。 I don’t think the insta-friendship with Skye was very realistic。 And is it just me, or was there a continuity error?
